Have you ever seen people flying through rings? Or dribbling a ball through a complex obstacle course? These people are playing in what is called workshop maps. Workshop maps are custom made maps made by the Rocket League community. These maps are different from standard maps, that being they inhibit unique gameplay mechanics that can enhance your training routine or have extra fun with your friends (or by yourself!)

Requirements To Install Workshop Maps

In order to install workshop maps in Rocket League, first there are a few requirements. The most important one is you need to be on a PC in order to install them. This is because Rocket League does not bring any support for workshop maps on console. Until they decide to implement support for workshop maps, PS, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch players will not be able to use them, so if you are on any of the listed platforms you will not be able to follow along with this guide.

What You Will Need

The first step in installing workshop maps when you have bought Rocket League through Epic Games is to install Lethamyr's Custom Map Loader. This loader will modify your Rocket League game by injecting the workshop map in place of a standard one. The download link is below.

Setting Up The Custom Map Loader

Once you have downloaded the Custom Map Loader, you will not have to configure it. Luckily, Lethamyr has a page of his own that walks you through the steps to set up the Custom Map Loader, so here is the link below.

Where do I download Workshop Maps? DOWNLOAD LINKS HERE!

Unfortunately you will not have access to many of the workshop maps that the community has to offer since the workshop maps are posted through Steam and not Epic Games. Luckily for you though, I have already saved numerous workshop map files, ranging from aerial and dribbling training, to a map resembling a Yoshi Circuit! Feel free to go to these Google Drive links and select the kind of maps you want.

Database of Workshop Maps

If you are still looking for a workshop map not listed here, then you are able to through Google find a workshop map downloader that will be able to grab the Steam Workshop Maps and download them for you. However it's hard to find because Steam keeps removing these tools. There might be some resources if you know where to look.

What Can I Do In Workshop Maps?

You can do a lot of things in workshop maps, the sky's the limit! Literally! The most common use for workshop maps is training.

Improve your aerial control

With workshop maps, you can play in rings maps and aerial obstacle courses to improve your aerial control. There are even whole communities dedicated to flying through rings! This kind of activity is called Air Racing. If you're still interested, check out YouTuber Rocket Sledge's video covering this community.

There are two kinds of aerial control maps, Rings Courses and Obstacle Courses. Here are a few examples of these maps.

Improve your ball control

Like with aerial control, you can also improve your ball control in these maps. There are multiple dribbling courses ranging from beginner to extremely advanced.

Have fun with unique gameplay and mechanics!

Lethamyr is a YouTuber and workshop map creator. He uploads daily videos on his channel of his unique map designs. From here, he combines other sports with Rocket League, creates new standard maps, introduces unique gameplay like playing Among Us in Rocket League and hide and seek mechanics and so much more. Not only that, he also creates widely popular training maps that are used by all skill levels of Rocket League players. Check out Lethamyr's channel to see the full extent of what you can do in workshop maps. You can even play these maps with your friends!

How Workshop Maps Helped Me

If you don't know me, I'm a Champ 1 Rocket League player who has been playing since F2P in 2020. I found workshop maps early on in my Rocket League journey, and I can say it has immensely helped me become a better player in the long run. These maps are 100% worth it, and I urge anyone who is serious about grinding up the Rocket League ranks and improving themselves to install workshop maps and start training. These maps can help you practice basic fundamentals that Rocket League's standard free play map and custom training cannot replicate.

Which Workshop Maps Should You Install?

Looking at workshop maps, there are lots to choose from. Here, I'll list a few of my absolute favorite maps that I use constantly, everyday.

Dribble Challenge #2

Difficulty: Intermediate
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This map is useful to anyone who wants to test their dribbling skills and improve their ball control. This map has 30 levels, so prepare yourself. It starts out easy (or hard depending what skill level you're at) and gradually gets harder as you progress through the course. Not only it covers dribbling, but it also helps you how to catch the ball, flicking, recovering, and even a little air dribbling.

Lethamyr's Giant Rings Map

Difficulty: Very Hard
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

By Lethamyr himself, this map is a true test to how well you can aerial. The course has 20 levels, and every 5 levels, the rings get smaller and smaller, making this map extremely difficult to learn if you are not familiar with aerials. I would recommend this to people who have a bit more experience in flying and need something to challenge themselves.

Eversax Dribble Challenge

Difficulty: EXTREME
Rating: ⭐⭐

This map may be one of the hardest Dribble Challenges I have ever seen yet. I could only reach level 3 or 4 before giving up after spending two hours in it. This map is definitely something left to very rank players, so if you are someone who is GC+ (and for some reason following a C1's blog about advice in Rocket League) then this map is definitely for you.
