Four Rocket League Content Creators That I like And Helped Me Get Better At Rocket League In The Beginning

Hello everyone, today I'll be talking about Rocket League content creators and which ones I like. When starting out in Rocket League, there is one thing that will drastically help you improve your gameplay: YouTube. Rocket League is still a fairly popular game, so there are tons of resources on the internet to help you hone your skills in this game. But which ones are effective? Here, I'll tell you four Rocket League content creators that helped me rank up in Rocket League. Hopefully they will help you too.

1. SunlessKhan

I would call him the face of  Rocket League content creation. With over two million subscribers, SunlessKhan creates many kinds of Rocket League content such as challenges, pranks, storytelling, and guides. His most helpful resource in my opinion is his "Why You Suck At Rocket League" series, or WYSARL for short. In this series, SunlessKhan covers basic gameplay tips for newcomers to the game that will improve their gameplay. In "The Best Defense In Rocket League" video, he covers a concept called "shadow defense." I'll let the video do the talking. I discovered early on when I started playing Rocket League, and it is by far the best video for teaching this very important concept in simple terms. If you are an absolute beginner at Rocket League, I highly recommend watching SunlessKhan so you can learn and understand the basic fundamentals of Rocket League.

2. Wayton Pilkin

Similar to SunlessKhan is Wayton Pilkin. These two make very similar content in that they make a wide variety of entertainment along with tips and tricks to get better at the game. However I find Wayton to be less sarcastic and dry, so if you find that SunlessKhan's personality isn't your cup of tea, Wayton Pilkin is a great second choice as he is very friendly and welcoming to those new to the game. Wayton also has a bit more focus on helping people climb in Rocket League versus Sunless who creates more entertaining content.

Wayton's most helpful video for me is his "How to dribble" video. Dribbling is an intermediate mechanic, however, the way Wayton teaches it makes it so that someone who just picked up the game can learn. I recommend this video to everyone learning to dribble. The best thing about this guide is he breaks it down in steps and fundamentals. Each session, you learn one aspect of dribbling, and slowly, it all comes together. In addition, Wayton offers training packs to help you dribble as well. And it is not any generic training pack; the first level in the training pack is one where the ball is perfectly centered with your car. When you go to dribble the ball, you won't have to worry about lateral movement. Instead, you just need to focus on gas, and slowly dribble the ball in a straight line to the goal. Overall, there is clear progression with Wayton's guide that makes a hard mechanic look extremely approachable

3. ApparentlyJack

Most popular video  (700K views)

ApparentlyJack is a current Rocket League pro who has participated in the Rocket League Championship Series and has ranked top 100 in 1v1 and 2v2. He posts daily on his YouTube channel of his 1v1 and 2v2 games along with the occasional guide on how to get better at the game. Although he does not post as much guides as Sunless and Wayton do, his gameplay can teach you so many things about the game from beginner to advanced. During his matches, he explains his thought process on why he does what he does, and his decision making. This can help you think like a Rocket League pro and improve your game sense. I do not have a most helpful video for this channel as he usually posts matches. I suggest putting on one of his videos during your free time and casually watching. You'll be surprised at how much you can learn by watching one match of a Rocket League pro.

Watching Jack play helps me play better in my matches as I remember his advice.

Not only Jack is very very very good at the game, he also has a mellow personality, so if you like someone with chill vibes, Jack is a great player to watch in the background.

4. Flakes

Most popular video (200K views)

Most helpful video

The holy grail of learning how to 1v1 in Rocket League. Like ApparentlyJack, Flakes is a Rocket League pro who has accomplished top 100 in 1v1. Flakes is well known for his Road to SSL with no mechanics series. As the title says, this series emphasizes game sense and smart decision making rather than flashy mechanics. You'll see Flakes rise through all the ranks of 1v1, outplaying even Grand Champions with simple but efficient hits on the ball. Rarely does he go up in the air and perform advanced mechanics. With this series, you'll learn how to play much smarter. You'll think more about what you do in Rocket League, and why you do it. You'll ask yourself more often what that hit really  accomplished. You'll learn about concepts like possession and shadow defense,

Overall, the series is a must watch for anyone serious about ranking up in Rocket League, and especially so for anyone serious about ranking up in 1v1.

Another thing Flakes is known for is his extremely snarky (but playful) personality. Being overly aggressive is a part of Flakes's schtick. Even if you don't prefer it, I still highly recommend this series for his knowledge on 1v1 alone.

Thanks for reading, I hope my recommendations helped you get an idea of which kind of content creator you want to watch to improve in Rocket League. See you next week.
